So, I get the irony of this complaint coming from someone like me as I sit at my desk in this advertising agency – but seriously, do advertisers have no boundaries!? Maybe I’d like to enjoy my daily dose of Dunkin Donuts coffee without a turbo shot of marketing from Captain America movie-makers.

Turns out the average person is exposed to 3,000 ad messages a day (billboards, TV commercials, facebook ads – and now apparently coffee cups, too!), and I have a feeling that number’s going to keep right on climbing.

Cutting through the clutter is surely getting harder and harder. How do smart advertisers battle it? More strategy, more creativity, and more focus on standing out in a crowd.

The question then becomes: Does your advertising strike the right balance between being seen and being downright intrusive?
