It was only a matter of time before Facebook found new ways to profit from the marketing success of small businesses on its site.

The company recently announced that it would curtail brand posts deemed “overly promotional” by its algorithm. What makes a post overly promotional? According to Facebook:
1. Posts that solely push people to buy a product or install an app
2. Posts that push people to enter promotions and sweepstakes with no real context
3. Posts that reuse the exact same content from ads

What does this mean for businesses? First of all, organic reach will be severely diminished. How can your business combat this? Facebook says, “By purchasing Facebook ads, of course!”
