Just when I thought I needed a new social media network like a hole in the head, I stumbled across Pinterest, a new online bulletin board exchange that allows you to share what you love with people you know. And of course, now I’m hooked…

Marketers should love Pinterest, too, especially if their companies have any kind of e-commerce presence, according to a recent article on Adweek.com (which also features our yogurt-making friends Chobani!). For instance, the Pinterest accounts of magazines like Martha Stewart Living and Martha Stewart Weddings provided more site traffic than their Facebook and Twitter accounts combined.

The two big selling points of Pinterest: First, photos posted from websites or repinned by users lead directly back to their source (which could be a marketer’s website or blog). Secondly, it can serve as a forecasting tool, an inside look at the popular products/trends out there, which can be invaluable when developing new marketing strategies.
