Here’s part three in our blog series on SUNY Broome’s Dr. Francis Battisti’s advice on effective communication. He discussed three major points when it comes to speaking in front of an audience:

1. Mindfulness — Know why you are there and be conscious of how both you and your audience are feeling.

2. Intent — Be aware of your goal. Do you want to influence? Educate? Persuade? Inspire? (The same goes for your advertising message, by the way).

3. Emotional Tone — Show you care. There’s a lot of truth to the adage: “They don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.”
