One of my favorite things about camping is its simplicity – just one of everything you need and only the essentials. One plate, one bowl, one cup, one pan – just what fits in the car carrier and no more. Aside from the simplicity of the things, I also enjoy only having one role to play: the camper – not the mom, the professional, or the volunteer.

When you find that essence, that is your brand. It is the feeling that resonates with people who connect with your business and want what you have to offer.

As Lincoln said, “You can’t please all the people all of the time, but you can please some of the people some of the time.” What your business provides and the way you present it connects with a certain segment of people who are willing AND WANTING to buy in. Being authentic and refined is what helps them find you.

It seems complicated, but it’s really quite simple: throw away the clutter and focus on the essentials. And when your brand lands in the right woods, it will be heard.
